Q: How do I decide which facial is most beneficial for me?
A: During the initial consultation, your skin care professional will evaluate your skin
condition and recommend the appropriate facial based on your needs.
1. European Facial....classic for relaxation
2. Deep Cleansing with/without extractions.... ideal for acne prone skin
3. Microdermabrasion.... smoothes and exfoliates your skin
Q: How do chemical peels improve the skin?
A: Chemical peeling is a procedure that aims to accelerate skin exfoliation by the use of chemical substances resulting in renewed, healthier looking skin and more uniform complexion.
Q: Who can benefit from peels?
A: Peels address the visible skin imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture. Peels also address skin tone unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or pigmentary changes. We offer a range of different strength chemical peels that licensed medical professionals can select to provide the optimum treatment for their patients.
Q: How do I decide which particular peel is most beneficial for me?
A: During the initial consultation, your skin care professional will evaluate your skin condition and recommend the appropriate peel regimen based on your needs.
1. Glycolic….deep cleansing, minimizes pore size, refreshes
2. Illuminize…..recommended for mild skin imperfections, provides vibrant and radiant looking skin
3. Vitalize…..recommended for mild to moderate fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation from sun or acne
4. Rejuvenize…recommended for moderate to severe fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation from sun damage
Laser hair removal is a non-invasive treatment for permanently reducing
or removing unwanted hair. This advanced hair removal technology is safe
for all skins types. Minimal discomfort, no downtime and have proven results
for our clients over the past many years. This procedure leaves the skin
looking and feeling smoother and silkier than waxing or shaving.
Q: How does it work?
A: With the GentleMAX 755 nm and 1064 nm wavelength, targeted
chromophore selectively absorbs laser energy. The absorbed light
damages the targeted lesion or hair follicle without injuring healthy
tissue or cells. When treating patients for hair removal, it is important to protect the epidermis with some type of cooling.
The dynamic cooling device (DCD) allows for effective and reproducible cooling of the epidermal layers as a short spray of cryogen delivered onto the skin milliseconds before the lase pulse. Darker skin types can also be safely treated.
Q: What is the advantage of using a laser?
A: Lasers are precise instruments that can be adjusted to the exact parameters that will specifically disable the hair follicle. The laser uses a wide beam that treats many hairs at once instead of hair-by-hair like electrolysis, allowing large areas such as legs, arms or back to be treated in a short period of time. You will see results that last far longer than tweezing, waxing, shaving, chemical depilation or other temporary methods.
Q: What does the treatment feel like?
A: The treatment does have a slight prickly or stinging sensation. Most of our clients are able to tolerate the treatment without difficulty. However, since every person's level of sensitivity is different and treatment areas may vary, a topical numbing cream is available.
Q: What happens to the skin after laser treatment?
A: Reddening of the skin, also known as erythema, is the desired reaction. The redness usually subsides within a few minutes to a few hours and returns to normal. Since the laser is non-invasive, no bandages are necessary. You are able to re-apply your make-up, return to work, and continue with your normal daily activities immediately following treatment.
Q: How many laser treatments will I need?
A: It has been our experience that most of our patients are able to discontinue treatments, knowing they will probably need occasional touchup, after an average of 6 treatments, providing that the recommended treatment schedule is followed. It is important to understand that results may vary depending on the individual’s hair type, their stress levels, certain medications and different hormone levels. Keep in mind some individuals will require fewer treatments and some will require more treatments depending on the results desired.
Q: Is laser hair removable permanent?
A: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared laser hair removal, regardless of the laser, for “Permanent Hair Reduction” only. Each individual's treatment response may be different because of their hair and skin type and given that there are between 500 and 1000 follicles per square centimeter, of which many are dormant at the time of treatment, we have no way of knowing if and when they may start growing due to stress levels, certain medications and different hormone levels.
Q: What to expect after laser treatment?
A: After your initial treatment, you should enjoy a significant reduction of hair. However, it will take 2-4 weeks for the treated hair to push its way to the surface and fall out. With each treatment, the hair in the active growing phase will be effectively treated. A follow up appointment is scheduled 6-8 weeks after each treatment. With that in mind, remember the importance of maintaining your follow up appointments.
Q: What if I have gray, white, blonde, red, or light/fine hair?
A: Since the laser is attracted to the pigment in the hair follicle, these hair colors may not have enough pigment to be successfully treated with the laser. If this applies to you, we may want to test a spot to see if your hair responds to the laser.
Q: What is Coolsculpting?
A: The Coolsculpting procedure is the only U.S. Food & Drug
Administration (FDA) cleared, non-surgical fat reduction
treatment that uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn
fat that resists all efforts through diet and exercise. The results
are proven, noticeable and lasting, so you’ll look and feel great
from every angle.
• No down time.
• Similar results to liposuction.
• Costs are individualized per treatment area.
Q: What to expect?
A: You’ll meet with a Coolsculpting clinician during a one-on-one consultation. This person could be a doctor, nurse, or other medical professional who has specialized training and experience in the Coolsculpting procedure. Your Coolsculpting clinician will take the time to discuss a holistic approach to your goals for reshaping your body. Together, you’ll look at your whole body from different angles—and then focus on specific areas where you want to eliminate fat.
Q: How does it work?
A: Years ago, scientists at Harvard University observed that some children who ate popsicles got dimples in their cheeks. The scientists—Dieter Manstein, MD and R. Rox Anderson, MD—realized that the popsicles were freezing and eliminating small pockets of fat cells. The idea that cold can target fat cells—without damaging the skin or surrounding tissue—was the insight behind Cryolipolysis®, the proven science on which the Coolsculpting procedure is based.
Q: Am I a good candidate for the Coolsculpting procedure?
A: The CoolSculpting fat-reduction procedure is specially designed for those who have unwanted fat in targeted areas. Unlike weight-loss surgery (e.g., gastric bypass), the CoolSculpting procedure is not a weight-loss solution for people who are obese. Good candidates for the CoolSculpting procedure have noticeable bulges in certain areas they’d like to get rid of. Many people want a non-surgical alternative to liposuction.
Q: How much does the Coolsculpting procedure cost?
A: The price for CoolSculpting procedures varies depending on your areas of concern, the number of treatments needed, and your ultimate goals. That said, the cost of a procedure usually starts at $750 per treatment, with the average patient typically opting for multiple treatments. Create a customized treatment plan that’s tailored to your body, your goals, and your budget. We accept Care Credit for those wishing to use alternative methods of payment.
Q: How long is each treatment? How many treatments will I need?
A: Your CoolSculpting provider will help you create an individualized treatment plan tailored to your specific goals. The length of your CoolSculpting treatment will vary depending on the number of areas being treated during one visit. While each CoolSculpting treatment generally lasts about 1 hour, some patients have more than one treatment during the same office visit. You and your provider may also schedule additional treatments or office visits in order to meet your goals.
Many people read, check email or even take a nap during their treatments.
Q: Where does the fat go? Are the results permanent?
A: Once the treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), they die and are naturally processed and eliminated from the body. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they’re gone for good.
Q: What does it feel like?
A: As the cooling begins during the first few minutes, you may typically feel intense cold. This soon dissipates. With some applicators, you’ll feel some pulling as suction is applied. The area generally goes numb within 5 to 10 minutes during treatment. Many people read, watch videos, work on their laptop or even take a nap during their CoolSculpting treatment. After the treatment you may feel some tingling as the area is massaged for 2 minutes. Patients are usually able to return to normal activities following their appointment.
Q: Is the Coolsculpting procedure safe?
A: The CoolSculpting procedure is FDA-cleared for the treatment of visible fat bulges in the submental area; thigh, abdomen, and flank. As the #1 non-invasive fat reduction procedure and with millions of CoolSculpting procedures performed worldwide, it is proven to be a safe and effective treatment.
Q: Who should not have the Coolsculpting procedure?
A: The CoolSculpting procedure is not for everyone. You should not have the CoolSculpting procedure if you suffer from cryoglobulinemia or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. The CoolSculpting procedure is not a treatment for obesity. As with any medical procedure, ask your physician if the CoolSculpting procedure is right for you.
Q: Are there any side effects?
A: During the procedure you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging and mild pinching. You may also feel intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching and cramping—sensations that subside as the treatment area becomes numb.
Immediately after treatment, there may be redness and firmness, transient blanching and/or mild bruising around the edges of the treatment area, tingling and stinging. Typically, these side effects are temporary and resolve completely. Many patients do experience redness in the treated areas for up to a few hours after the applicator is removed. In rare cases, this redness may persist up to 2 weeks, but it will completely resolve itself.
At 1 to 2 weeks after treatment, there may be redness, bruising, swelling, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, skin sensitivity, tingling and numbness. In some cases, numbness may persist for several weeks after a treatment. Talk to your Coolsculpting provider if these side effects persist past 2 weeks or worsen over time.
Q: Can I return to normal activities after my treatment?
A: Yes, you can. The CoolSculpting procedure is completely non-surgical, so typically you can return to normal activities immediately. Patients often return to work on the same day after a CoolSculpting treatment is completed.
Q: I’ve had my Coolsculpting procedure. Now what?
A: Always be sure to schedule a follow-up assessment with your CoolSculpting provider to review your results and discuss the option of additional treatments. Try to maintain a healthy lifestyle. A healthy body is a happy one. And we want you to be happy with your results!
Q: When will I see results?
A: You may start to see changes as quickly as 3 weeks after your treatment, and will experience the most dramatic results after 2 months. Your body will still continue to flush out fat cells for up to 4 to 6 months after treatment.
Q: Do I need to take special supplements or follow a strict diet and exercise program?
A: No supplements are required after your CoolSculpting treatment. It’s not a diet and exercise program, so you won’t need to change any of your lifestyle habits. Many patients do feel more motivated to take care of themselves after a CoolSculpting treatment. It’s as if they got a second lease on their body! They want to take even better care of themselves.
Q: What happens if I gain weight after my Coolsculpting procedure?
A: Many people, after seeing the results from their CoolSculpting procedure, feel even more motivated to stay close to their ideal weight. However, if you do gain weight, you may gain it evenly all over your body, not just in the treated areas.
